Management welcomes Dr Jana Boevers
The Department of Management welcomes Dr Jana Boevers as a visiting scholar, until the end of February 2025.
Jana Boevers is from the Faculty of Economics and Management of the University of Bielefeld, Germany. Her main fields of research are leadership and management, predominantly in the family business context.
At the Department of Management, Dr Boevers is working with Professor Alina Baluch, developing a research project on memory work and identity work in the context of family business organisations. The project is associated with the Department’s Work, Organisations and Society research thematic group.
Jana obtained her PhD from the Bielefeld University, with a dissertation entitled ‘Three essays on leadership in family businesses’. In her postdoctoral research, she uses largely qualitative methods and adopts processes and practices perspectives. She is especially interested in change at the intersection of organisational theory and a strategy perspective. She focuses on topics like identity, family business succession, gendered institutions and sustainability practices.
Jana was previously a visiting scholar at the University of Alberta, Canada, and her research has been published in journals such as the Journal of Family Business Strategy, the International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Small Business, and the European Journal of Family Business. Her teaching has included courses on qualitative methods in management research, strategic management and corporate governance and corporate social responsibility.
