From global asset management to long-term savings and a family manufacturing business, graduates of the University of St Andrews Business School’s finance programmes have taken varied paths. Their experiences on the MSc Finance and Management and MSc Finance and Economics courses continue to shape how they approach responsibility, risk and leadership.

Vincent Press, who completed the MSc Finance and Management in 2016-2017, is now Vice President at BlackRock in London, a global asset management firm. He reflects:

“My time at St. Andrews University has been instrumental in shaping my career in Private Equity and Investment Banking. The rigorous coursework provided me with the essential tools and knowledge needed to excel in a corporate finance environment. Beyond academics, the university offered a vibrant community where I built a strong network of professionals and peers, which continues to support me in my career today.”

Marco Molinari completed the MSc Finance and Economics in 2017-2018 and now works as an Investment Manager at Phoenix Group Asset Management, part of a UK long-term savings and retirement business. He describes the experience:

“Having completed a MSc in Finance and Economics at the University of St Andrews, I can honestly say this was a highly challenging yet stimulating experience which taught me a lot. I found the topics I studied very interesting and taught by excellent professors. The way the programme was developed was to provide students with ad-hoc practical applications which have turned out to be highly beneficial for my career.”

Carina Schneider graduated from the MSc Finance and Management in 2019-2020 and now works in her family business, PARA Präzisionswerkzeuge GmbH, where she is Manager for Digitalisation, Marketing and E-commerce. She says:

“I chose the Finance & Management programme because I feel the combination of finance and management, with a strong focus on the importance of ethics and responsible leadership, is more important now than ever. Nonetheless, it was probably one of my toughest experiences to date in terms of examinations and workload, and I learned to explore and test my limits while performing well under pressure. This was the best preparation for me entering our family business and facing those new arising challenges with an open mind.”
